Andrew Caplin, Professor of Economics I am a Professor of Economics and co-director of the Center for Experimental Social Science at NYU, with previous faculty appointments at Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia Universities. I am a Fellow of the Econometric Society and a member of the Steering Committee of the Health and Retirement Survey. My early research focused on pure microeconomic theory and macroeconomic theory. My more recent theoretical research has increasingly incorporated psychological elements. I have focused also on gathering complementary evidence from innovative surveys, economic experiments, and neuroscientific experiments. I have organized the NYU Seminar in Economics and Psychology for the last five years, collaborating with Paul Glimcher for the last three years, in which the focus has been exclusively on Neuroeconomics. In addition to my standard scholarly work, I have developed a series of novel mortgage instruments, shared equity mortgages that are being launched in countries that are particularly encouraging of innovation. I am also collaborating with Andy Schotter on a series of Handbooks of Economic Methodology, to be published by Oxford University Press. |
