- January 2012 We would like to congratulate Agnieszka Tymula for being the first from NYU to be awarded the prestigious AXA Research Fund Postdoctoral fellowship. AXA boasts a global selection rate of 15%, and for this past year only 7% of applicants were awarded fellowships. AXA is a French financial corporation whose research goal is to learn more about risk (environmental, life, and socio-economic) in the hopes of protection from risk through increased understanding of the factors involved.
- Ernst Fehr to join NYU as Global Distinguished Visting Professor: We are pleased to announce that Ernst Fehr, Professor of Economics and the director of the Department of Economics at the University of Zurich will be joining us as a global distinguished visiting professor this fall. He will hold a joint-appointment in the economics department and CNE. He will be at NYU for six weeks a year – this fall, he will be here from 9/6-9/16 and 10/10-10/21. He will be teaching a mini-course comprised of 4 lectures titled ‘Topics in Behavioral and Neuroeconomics.’
- September 2011 The Society for Neuroeconomics will hold its annual meeting on September 30th - October 2nd, 2011 in Evanston, IL. The Society for Neuroeconomics promotes global interdisciplinary discussion on topics lying at the intersection of the brain and decision sciences in hopes of advancing both theory and research. The meeting is attended by scholars of all levels from all areas of neuroeconomic research including the fields of economics, psychology, and neural science, as well as by leaders in fields such as finance and medicine. - July 2011 Nathaniel Daw is the recipient of a Scholar Award from the James S. McDonnell Foundation.
- May 2011 We are pleased to announce that CNE faculty members Paul Glimcher and Andrew Caplin have been named Julius Silver Professors in Neural Science and Economics, respectively. Three CNE faculty members now hold this professorship, as Elizabeth Phelps was named Julius Silver Professor of Psychology in 2008. Silver Professorships are awarded to those who are distinguished not only for outstanding teaching but also for their significant contributions and dedication to research.
- February 2010 The book Neuroeconomics: Decision Making and the Brain, published by Elsevier Academic Press in association with the Society for Neuroeconomics, has been awarded the 2009 PROSE award (Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association on American Publishers) in two categories - overall Excellence in Social Sciences and the specific Economics subject category. With nearly 450 books nominated, we are very proud of the book's editors, our Center for Neuroeconomics director Paul Glimcher, Colin Camerer (Caltech), Ernst Fehr (University of Zurich), and Russell Poldrack (UCLA).
